The Black Prince, a historical drama based upon the true story of Maharajah Duleep Singh, the boy who became king of Punjab shortly before it was annexed to the British empire,   was awarded the Special Jury Remi Award today at the 50th annual WorldFest International Film Festival in Houston. The event’s Gold Remi was also awarded to the film’s Natalie O’Connor for achievement in Art Direction.Majarajah Duleep Singh was exiled by the British to a privileged life in England when he was only 15 years old, and was shortly thereafter converted to Christianity. VIRSA WORLD PREMIERE AT THE DALLAS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

The Punjabi produced film, Virsa, was the first of its kind to debut as an official selection at The Dallas International Film Festival this past Saturday night, playing at the Landmark Magnolia Theater in the West Village to a sold out crowd. Virsa premiers at Dallas International Film Festival

Our resources at Los Angeles reported that Dallas resident Dr. Amanullah Khan’s first Punjabi feature film ‘Virsa’ has been accepted for the Dallas International Film Festival. This 11 days international film festival will feature153 feature and short films with 170 screenings. Within the world cinema selections, Virsa will debut. Bigger news for Punjabis is that this Punjabi movie will be screened in Punjabi with sub-titles in English. Producer of Virsa and Dallas native Dr. Amanullah Khan has confirmed the news.
