San Francisco | The scene became tensed when during the Nagar Kirtan (Sikh Parade) held to pay homage to the martyrs of Operation Blue Star 1984, someone tore off the posters of Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming film Punjab 1984. These posters were displayed near the main stage where photographs and posters of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawala were placed. Punjab 1984 was released in 2014. Diljit Dosanjh has specially thanked these young guys by sharing their pictures on his official Facebook fan page.
Jodha Josan, A Sikh believer and journalist at the occasion shared through his Facebook that near the main stage of Nagar Kirtan photographs and posters of Sant Ji and other martyrs were displayed. A big screen was also placed there and a documentary related to Operation Blue Star was screened. Singers were singing the songs of bravery on the stage. I was astonished to see the posters of Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming Punjabi film Punjab 1984. Then suddenly someone from the gathering tore off the posters and dumped them into the trash bin. Youngsters promoting the film tried to silently escape from the location after finding themselves in an awkward situation. Jodha told that he was broadcasting the event for Global Punjab TV along with Jagdev Singh Bhandal. “When we tried to ask questions from those youngsters about what Diljit has done till date to help the victims of 1984 and what share he will contribute to help them out of revenue earned by the film Punjab 1984. Just to escape from the questions those youngsters went away” Jodha added.
