Our resources at Los Angeles reported that Dallas resident Dr. Amanullah Khan’s first Punjabi feature film ‘Virsa’ has been accepted for the Dallas International Film Festival. This 11 days international film festival will feature153 feature and short films with 170 screenings. Within the world cinema selections, Virsa will debut. Bigger news for Punjabis is that this Punjabi movie will be screened in Punjabi with sub-titles in English. Producer of Virsa and Dallas native Dr. Amanullah Khan has confirmed the news. He said, “It is a proud moment for evey punjabi. I am personally more than happy that our venture to re-connect to our roots is taking us high on the biggest event of film fraternity. I will advice youngsters to get connected with their roots and this will take them to pinnacle in their spheres. He told us that film will be screened on April 10, 2010 at 8 pm at The Landmark Manolia Theatre in Dallas West Village and second screening will be at same venue on April 12, 2010 at 4:15 pm. Dr. Khan’s Virsa will debut as part of the Dallas International film Festival’s Super Saturday Presentations, being one of seven international featured films premiering on Saturday, April 10, 2010. These films include Demi Moore starer The Joneses.
Virsa is the first truly international Punjabi film with cast and crew from India, Pakistan and Australia with scheduled cinematic release in Pakistan and India to follow the festival on May 7, 2010.
